Cinnamon and crepes.

Back to my guessing game… Laurwyn, Karen, LAP and Tanit-Isis all get gold stars. Tasia gets TWO stars. Crepe is definitely in my future! And possibly Cinnamon as well. And yes, I was SUPER excited to see Gertie announce her Crepe sewalong.

Muslin accomplished, looks sort of nice as a shirt, doesn’t it??

The plan is to use the print for the dress and the pink satin for the sash. I was thinking of using the satin to line the dress, but the double gauze is so wonderful and squishy that I may skip the lining. And here’s where Tasia’s second star comes in – a pink satin Cinnamon to wear underneath for modesty and winter-wear with tights and a cardigan (don’t you hate when your skirt sticks to your tights?) And then, in the summer, when I care less about modesty and more about air conditioning, I can ditch the slip. I’m feeling very clever. Here’s reminder of what the fabric looks like.

I cut a straight size 18 and the fit is pretty good. I’ll probably take a tiny tuck in the center front and rotate that to the darts. Also, the dart points on the vertical darts are a bit too close to my bust apex, so I may drop them a bit. Or not.

Here’s a view from the back. I never thought I’d like a wrap dress, but I really like how this one wraps in the back instead of the front. There’s a hole in the side seam on one side for the tie to pass through – very clever! Also, I thought it was pretty funny that Lucy the hound is also modeling her hind end.

I love this dress! I can’t wait to finish it. It’s flattering, it’s comfy, and I like the whole wrap-thing and the cinched waist. Also, it was SUPER EASY to sew. Granted, it was just a muslin, but it took me about a half an hour to sew. Everyone who’s considering doing Gertie’s sewalong should do it. DO IT. There’s my vote.

Ooh, what a great muslin. I love the Gertie sew along process. I won't be doing this one, but only because a) I need a bit of a break to do other items b) I don't think the pattern is for me and c) I need another dress like a hole in the head. But I'm going to follow the new sew along with great interest.

I love how the neckline and sleeves fit you on this style! I never dig wrap dresses either, but there's just something about Crepe that's really appealing. I desperately need to make myself several Sencha blouses as well.

I'm hoping to find a great print tomorrow for my project inspired by the new Anthro catalog. It's a dress for my llama! (snerk)

Yay two stars! :)
That's a brilliant idea, making a slip out of the contrast sash fabric. Plus you can wear your Cinnamon slip under ALL of your dresses!
I probably won't do the sewalong, but I know it will be great! Gertie's a fantastic teacher. Looking good so far! :)

I am completely going to enter this sew along as well (I am even getting things with my coat too!!!). My only worry is that I will have to upgrade the pattern and that I might mess it up (even if I have never really messed it up).

The Crepe is such a beautiful pattern and, as I see with the muslin, will suit you so nicely. I still love your gauze! Jealous!

Ooh, that's a very pretty shirt, uh, dress. Nice details.

And your post title has put me in the mood for crepes...

Did you not have to do a FBA on this pattern? I will be so excited if you say no...Maybe that will save me much cursing and gnashing of teeth...I know I will have to lengthen it and widen it some, but it would be nice to not have to regrade the entire pattern.....

It looks lovely as a shirt! I need to make up some of the dress patterns I have as shirts, they always intimidate me as dresses. Isn't that weird... I can whip up coats like nobody's business (if I get Tyo's done that'll be five this year), but the mere thought of dresses exhausts me?

Your Crepe is tempting me, but seeing as I haven't managed to make up the two Colette patterns I have already, I think I'd better hold off on it. It looks so yummy, though...

Karen - I didn't do an FBA - My mesurements are (gah!) 45-41-50 and the size 18 measurements are 46-38-48 (and it says the finished bust size is 48!) I could probably grade the waist/hip area up a bit, but since it's a wrap dress, I figured I can tie it on tight! With the ties at the waist it makes for 'easier' fitting (this is the same principle I applied when I got a corset backed wedding dress!) I've heard that Colette patterns are drafted for a C cup and my underbust to bust measurement is 38/45, which puts me WAY above C, but it worked out - if no tie, then I would probably have done the FBA.

Do it... Taran... it's so easy....

This looks really good! I've been ho-humming about buying this pattern but it looks so good on you my resolve is failing!

I am going to do the sew along with Gertie...My measurements are 52-44-50, I'm an H cup and 5'11". I don't think a pattern exists that I will not have to do major surgery on... I'm sooo jealous of women who can make a couple of tweaks to a pattern and then sew it up...sigh.....

I do like this as a top, maybe I'll make a top along with a dress - it's very cute and once the bodice is adjusted all the hard work is done...
